Click the button on the left and grant camera permission. The system will automatically query the hardware limits of all cameras.
How Browser Camera APIs Work
This tool uses standard Web Media Capture and Streams APIs to inspect the camera hardware capabilities exposed by your browser. All data comes directly from public browser Web APIs, and actual support depends on your browser, OS, and camera drivers.
1. Access Permission & MediaStream
Upon user authorization, the browser creates a MediaStream live feed. Without permission, web applications cannot read any camera specifications or hardware limits.
2. Camera Capabilities
Queries the hardware limits supported by the lens via browser Camera APIs, such as max resolution, FPS, Zoom, ISO, exposure shutter time, focus distance limits, and torch support.
3. Live Stream Settings
Unlike hardware capabilities (supported ranges), settings report the actual values currently used by the active video stream, such as output resolution, frame rate, and facing mode.
4. Real-time Constraints
Applications can send real-time adjustment requests to the camera using applyConstraints() (e.g., manual focus, exposure boosting, or switching AF-C/AF-S). Browsers attempt to satisfy these requests within hardware capabilities.
5. Platform & Browser Compatibility
Not all platforms support the same controls. For instance, Torch and manual Focus Distance are typically fully exposed only on mobile devices (Android/iOS) running specific Chromium-based browsers.
