AR combines camera images with motion sensor data to estimate your phone’s position and the space around it. Once you place two points, it can calculate the distance between them in 3D space.
Connect points on the same plane to form a closed shape, and the tool calculates its area from the boundary. You can measure irregular polygons as well as triangles and rectangles.
Ground mode is for horizontal surfaces such as tabletops and floors. Side mode is for vertical surfaces such as walls and cabinet doors. Choosing the mode that matches the surface keeps subsequent points on the same measurement plane.
Results depend on your device, lighting, surface texture, and where you place the points. They are suitable for everyday estimates. Use a physical measuring tool to confirm precise dimensions.
In a well-lit area, slowly move your phone to scan your surroundings before placing points. Avoid glass, mirrors, and surfaces with little visual detail, and stay reasonably close to the object.
Automatic selection estimates a rectangular region from the camera image. Backgrounds, shadows, and viewing angles can affect the result. Before applying it, check that the purple outline matches the area you want to measure. You can also place points manually.
